After a month of phone calls and re-wiring at home...we are once again connected to the internet. I am a bit alarmed at how much of a hardship it was to NOT have the internet at home. The biggest issue was the budget. I knew it was an expensive month but when I actually sat down to reconcile everything...yowza!
Yesterday was Rhett's 2nd birthday...I think. This is so, so bad but I'm not 100% sure when his birthday is. I got it wrong once and that shook my confidence. I really need to find some sort of documentation that proves the date. Russell assures me it is the 4th but I need some hard proof to put the confusion to rest one last time. I have to laugh when I get asked when my kids got their first teeth or crawled or said their first word...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I haven't the FOGGIEST! I can't even remember the date I BIRTHED one of my children!
Anyway, Rhett was for sure born and while I can't remember the actual date it happened, I remember the day like it was yesterday. The pain and the bliss. All my children are my favorites for different reasons. Rhett and I have a special bond - some of it comes from how much more relaxed I am as a parent this go around. Some of it comes from how mellow he was as a baby and how much I wanted to hold him. I would actually be EXCITED when he woke up in the middle of the night because that meant I got to have extra snuggle time with him. We spent the bulk of the day connected - literally. I wrapped him up and wore him on my chest most of the day for months and months. Even now I get comments all the time at how strange it is to see Rhett walking and not strapped to me. Because of that literal connection I think we have a pretty deep emotional connection. It's hard to describe beyond sharing a very personal and unique bond. Celebrating his birthday was special - nothing too remarkable but he got oodles of attention - just the way he likes it. I have a few pictures but I'm not sure where my card reader is so it may be awhile before I post them. In the meantime, here is a picture from when he was left unattended with some chocolate pudding a few weeks ago.
I do have some pictures of the new paint here at the homestead. It's bright and wonderful. We are really loving it here. It feels like home! It's hard to pace ourselves and stay on track budget-wise. There are so many projects we'd like to start but have to wait until money allows. It's a good practice in both prudence and patience.
Here are the pictures.
We refinished the floors...they look great! You can see the difference between the unfinished floor on the right and the final product on the left.
We went with two tones of gray in the living room...
My favorite color (it's actually a tie with red) in our bedroom...
And a super-bright apple green in the kids' room. You can see the deep chocolate brown in the hallway.
I'm so grateful to my mom and step-dad for coming over (twice for my mom) to help get the house ready to move into. Painting, electrical work, cleaning...they were such a huge help!
The best part about this house is the wonderful people that have entered its doors. We are so grateful for the amazing friends and family we have. You are such a blessing to us! Thank you!
